Frequently Asked Questions

  • What types of conditions do you treat?

I treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, substance use disorders, OCD, PTSD, grief, and sleep issues. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you’re seeking care for an issue I have not explicitly mentioned.

  • Do you meet with patients virtually, in person, or both?

At this time, I am seeing patients virtually. I am licensed to see patients in Illinois and California for therapy and medication management.

  • Can you tell me what therapy would be like with you?

Our work will focus on helping you overcome the emotional difficulties that bring you to therapy. Specifically, that means working in the “here and now” - allowing you to have a direct experience of emotions in session with me. I take an active stance in helping you recognize the ways in which you show up in the world - and in therapy - so you can make the choice to live differently.

  • How often would we meet for therapy and/or medication management?

I see most patients for psychotherapy 1-2 times per week, but am happy discuss the particulars of your situation. For medication management, we should discuss how frequently it makes sense for us to meet. This will depend on several factors, and may change over time.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance. However, if you have an insurance plan with out-of-network benefits, I am happy to provide a form (superbill) you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement of a portion of the visit cost. For more information, please contact your insurance plan to ask about their out-of-network mental health benefits.

  • How do I schedule an appointment?

If you or a family member are seeking care, please contact us for a free 15-minute consultation. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have and we can figure out if we might be a good fit to work together.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Visits must be cancelled at least 24 business hours prior to our scheduled appointment, or you will be expected to pay for the full visit.

  • Do I have to switch if I already have a therapist?

No. If you have a good working relationship with your current therapist, you should continue seeing them. I can provide medication management alone, psychotherapy alone, or a combination of the two depending on your specific needs.

  • What if I have a question about a medication or need a refill before our next appointment?

I always encourage you to reach out to me with any questions about your medications. I do my best to get back to you within 1-2 business days, often sooner. I feel that these discussions can be essential for good treatments.
